After inspecting a property and coming across mice droppings or tunnels in the insulation, homeowners frequently ask “how many mice are up there?” The question usually cannot be answered from a census per say but knowing more about the reproductive cycle of mice can give us a ballpark number.

Mice are one of the most prolific mammals we come across in the critter industry. The gestation period for mice hovers around 2-3 weeks. Typically females will have a litter 5-10 times a year. Their litters can range anywhere from 2-14 pups per cycle. Taking those numbers into account a single female mouse will produce on average 10-140 pups per year. The population can grow exponentially depending on how many females are in the home and how many years the mice have been there.

Although mice can reproduce at extraordinary rates there are many modern tools and products available to mitigate their populations in a safe and humane manner. For more information or to schedule a complimentary appointment contact Critter Evictors!
