Skunks are native to Canada, North America and Mexico. The landscapes and terrain of the skunks native lands are diverse and different from one another. This allows skunks to thrive in a multitude of environments and consume a diverse diet.
Skunks are omnivores. A few of their favorite dietary items include grasshoppers, bees, fish, reptiles, mice and crickets. Depending on their dietary needs they will even target veggies and eggs.
Skunks are typically between 2-15 lbs and have a total body length of 18-35 inches. The colder seasons can affect a skunks body mass. During the winter skunks generally weight less and can go extended periods without eating.
Skunks will generally breed in late winter or early spring. Females will remain solitary while expecting and raise the young, known as kits/kittens, by herself. Litter sizes are between 2-12. When born the kittens will be blind and depend on their mother to ensure their survival. Kits are weened at around 6-8 weeks and will follow mom to learn the skills needed for their independence.
