Homeowners dealing with a critter in the attic are usually on a mission. The objective- evict their uninvited guests and seal the holes they’ve entered through. While most homes are fitted with attic space many homeowners have never ventured into them. For the homeowners who find themselves in the attic looking for critter entry points here are some tips.

Critters are creatures of habit. Over time the critters path will manifest in the insulation. While the critter travels its established route in the attic the insulation will pack down revealing a trail. By following the critter trails in the insulation their den/nest and entry/exit points can be located.

Some critters drop their feces while traveling. Mice and rats are prime examples of this. Their feces trail can be followed to locate entry points. Mice and rats will also have a concentrated area of feces where they’re nesting.

Attics are generally not equipped with lighting. In some cases not having lights on in the attic can bring out entry points. With the lights off daylight entering the attic will be highlighted. Daylight entering the attic thorough a hole in the homes exterior should be inspected for critter activity.

Inspecting an attic to locate critter entry points is common practice in wildlife removal. Attics are not the easiest or cleanest places for humans to maneuver. No-one wants to get sick from their attic or damage their home. Before inspecting an attic make sure to use proper PPE and hold a competent understanding of the homes anatomy. This will avoid damage to the home and the individual.
