We hear it over the phone frequently year round but especially in the winter months. Homeowners and property managers informing us that every morning around the same time they hear chewing, scratching and scampering. Who’s the most likely culprit to this unrequested wake up call? The answer is typically squirrels!

Squirrels are diurnal meaning they’re active during the day. Squirells are also creatures of habit.  During the warmer months squirrels spend a healthy portion of their time collecting food to stash for the winter. In some cases squirrels will store their cache in homeowners walls and attic floors to keep them fed during the cold. However, when it comes to hydration, squirrels in most cases have to exit the warm property to quench their thirst. Most of these activities occur when the sun is out.

The noises coming from your attic, wall or basement are usually the squirrels eating overhead, or exiting the property to hydrate. There are other activities squirrels partake in during the colder months but staying fed and hydrated sums it up in a nutshell. Pause for laughter. Because squirrels remain active year round they can be evicted year round. Contact us for more information or to set an inspection.
